It is when you write a text in hopes to bring pleasure, fun and/or excitement to the person who reads it.

INFORM

Here, you write a text to try to teach something, or tell someone about a particular event or fact.

A short and precise
writing to tell readers
the main facts about
a current or relevant
subject. Examples for the world!

Books or websites
that list the meanings
of the words of a language,
their uses and synonyms. What an example!

They are longer than
articles, and focus on
the details of a subject,
its changes in time, its
causes and consequences. Example!

PERSUADE

When you write to persuade, you write to explain your point of view about a topic to your reader, and to try to convince them that your point of view is the best one.

Texts written to express
a person's opinion on
a specific subject
and the arguments
that support his/her
opinion. What an example!

Short messages that
use written, oral and
visual language to
convince people to buy
a product or support
a cause. Examples Ahoy!

INSTRUCT

Finally, this kind of writing is used to help people through the steps of a process by giving instruction.
